The Blue Conservators
A History of Courage and Faith
The Blue Conservators: Image
The history of the Conservators is the history of the Blue Conservators. Alessandra Amante was not only the first Blue Conservator, but the first ever Conservator. Chosen by the Light, she helped assemble the first generation of Conservators to fight in the First Dark War, when Mortalitus and his Dark Spirits first rose to power. In addition to her historical significance, Alessandra possessed the ability to foresee future events. It is not clear whether she could always control this power.
After the First Dark War, the Blue Forest was created near the Pacific coast of North America. The Blue Forest was unique in that it served as the fixture for the rest of the Forests. A bridge between the physical world and the world of the Light and Conservators, the Blue Forest was protected and overseen by Alessandra for thousands of years. In a small village nearby, Alessandra settled down and planned to live her life.
In the early 1800s, Alessandra found an infant, abandoned on the side of the road. Her hair was white and her eyes were blue. Unable to locate the child’s parents, Alessandra decided to take her in and raised her as her own. She named the child Valentina Amante, and assumed the role of her grandmother. Valentina was raised on stories of knights and beasts and mythical kingdoms. Piece by piece, Alessandra attempted to introduce the world of the Conservators to her granddaughter, but the time never seemed quite right.
In the year 1832, Valentina discovered a hidden room in her house, where Alessandra had stored her Blue Medallion and Blue Bottle. Upon touching the relics, all of Alessandra’s memories were bestowed upon Valentina. Speaking with her grandmother, Valentina was tasked with solidifying the bridge between the physical world and the Blue Forest. Unfortunately, Valentina was in for more than she anticipated.
Angelos, the first Green Conservator, explained that due to Alessandra’s absence from the Blue Forest, the link had been severed. Valentina could reestablish the connection, but in doing so, she was accepting the role of the Blue Conservator. Stricken with grief by the news, Alessandra warned that she had visions of the future: a future shrouded in bloodshed, death, and betrayal. Darkness was coming.
Growing close to Angelos, Valentina was devastated when he was murdered by Mortalitus in 1870. To worsen matters, the King of Dark Spirits was using Angelos’ body as a vessel -- a constant reminder to Valentina of what she had lost. Valentina grew fond of Elizabeth Tucker, the Red Conservator, as she too had a loved one brought into the darkness.
After the Second Dark War, Valentina continued to protect the Blue Forest, but eventually passed the responsibility onto Natalia Strickland in 2009. Valentina had plans to explore the world before departing to whatever is next, but she would have to abandon her plans. Elizabeth, moving on to spend her days with her husband Jacob Florentine, asked Valentina to watch over her great-grandson, Owen Florentine, who had replaced Elizabeth as the Red Conservator. A mentor and a friend to Owen, Valentina has remained close with the most recent generation of Conservators ever since.
